And that way, the book will be handy for reading on the plane! I got mine yesterday, too, but it was Mark's birthday, so I haven't opened it yet. Maybe tonight.

Heh. That book is big enough it might be confiscated as a weapon.

Well, the book (and an Amanda Quick for the way back) fits...but I may be in trouble if I buy much at the Con. May have to mail stuff home....
So...I need outside perspective.
I love Lois McMaster Bujold's books. She actually enjoys listening to people filk about her books--I've seen it.
I wrote a song about one of her characters, and have just time to get it recorded before next weekend.
Here's the question...is giving her a CD of a song about one of her characters a compliment, or stalking behavior? Do you think it's a nice thing to do, or kind of creepy?
Second Guessing myself as always....

One filk is a nice thing to do. It's not stalker behavior. When Anne went to D*C, there were always a handful of fans that made things based on her books or her characters and gave them to her.

Giving her a song about her character is way cool. Unless they're a real grumpy pants, most authors would be flattered. And I don't think she's a grumpy pants.

Hope--If I were the author, I'd consider it a great compliment. You're wonderfully polite, so I don't think Bujold would mind, at all.

I can't remember if I mentioned this to everyone or just to Anna, but--I'm going to go to the hotel with Anna, Trini, and we'll look forward to seeing you and Hope at the hotel a little later.

Hey All! I'll be leaving the house about 5am tomorrow, and won't be home again until late Monday, so I'll likely not be online again until Tuesday. Either Chantal or Anna is likely to have a lap top, though! Wish all of you were going to be there! Although we'd probably get charged with corrupting a minor if we took Geo across state lines to a --gasp!--science fiction convention. Now...those of you who are worried about having a critical mass of writers and leadership in one location should remain calm. I promise that we won't blow up more than one Weyr. Two at the most. And no more than half a dozen Holds.

Oh, you can just bet I'll be bringing my laptop, and you're more than welcome to use it, Hope. All you're promising is that we won't blow up more than one Weyr, Hope? Oh, good. That leaves plenty for other fun and games.

I'm going to bring my music with me. Probably an insane thing to do, but I've got these Gregorian chants to learn, and some Purcell and Micaela's Aria to practice, and there might be a piano there. I'm in love with the Purcell piece, you see. *gives serious thought to bringing the bigger suitcase--very serious thought*

I'm back from FenCon. Mark and our friend Donna picked me up when my plane arrived at 5pm, and we went out to dinner. We're now sort of watching the Emmy Awards, though I'm not paying much attention to it.
See you all later. I'm going to wade through email and I hope write something.
Anna and Susan--Thank you so much for the rides to and from the airport. Hope and Trini--it was so wonderful to see you two!

Well, Scott invited Melanie and Jimmy over tonight, so I haven't done anything except go get dinner, visit, and watch Stargate. They've just left...so now I can finally get to studying.
Urk. Late night tonight.
