Southwest opened up flights thru August 14th...so not quite far enough! Their fares look really good, if the same holds through for September!
Wrote a LMB filk for the convention Easter weekend on the 4 hour each way solo drive to and from Vermont. ;> And have definite ideas of things to bring...after I find out if they're currently legal!

Just a reminder--membership rates go up June 1st! Right now they are a very reasonable $30!
Room rates are good until August, so we have more time on that. Are executive suites actually 2 rooms, or just the meeting room?

Regarding the suites at the con hotel: "The suites are a double sized room with a large sitting area and a wet bar. They are very good for parties." I've scoped out some nearby hotels and I'm checking prices.

This is what I'm finding for the hotels, price wise. Comfort Suites North/Galleria Addison - 2.44 miles from the con hotel. www.comfortsuites.com/hotel-addison-texas-TX116?sid=rE8Bg.bv38SgFA6.6For the record, I've always had a very comfortable stay at Comfort Inn and Comfort Suites. However, keep in mind these are franchises, so quality CAN very between locations! 2 Queen Suite - $89.99 (2 ppl sharing: $45/night) 1 King Suite - $84.99 1 Queen Suite - $79.99 Description of their suites: 1 Bedroom Suite Living Room Sofabed-2Person Free High-Speed Wireless Microwave RefrigeratorThe 2 queen suite has a partial room divider. Homewood Suites - 2.52 miles They have a 2-bedroom, 2-bath suite with living area w/ sleeper sofa, AND a fully stocked kitchenette for $209. The bedrooms are 1 king, and 1 double. We could get a minimum of four people in there, sleeping comfortably. That breaks down to $52.25 each per night. I admit...I'm really liking that possibility. The 'fully stocked kitchenette' has me intrigued. And did I mention the fireplace....? Here's their description of their suites: 2 BDRM/2 BATH SUITE-1 KING/2 DBL BEDS-NONSMOK Our two bedrooms, two bathroom suites are great for the entire family! This extraordinarily large suite features two private bedrooms, fireplace and one shared common area. In one bedrooms, you have a spacious king suite with separate bathroom, television and remote control. In the other, two double beds with separate bathroom, television and remote. The fully equipped kitchenette and living area is shared as one common area that joins the two bedrooms together. You will enjoy the sofa sleeper that makes out into a Full size bed in this suite as well. As always, the full sized refrigerator, microwave, two stove top burner, complimentary high speed internet access, and two telephones with speakers, iron/ironing boards and hair dryers are also included. Our complimentary "Suite Start" hot breakfast buffet and complimentary evening "Welcome Home Reception" offered Mon-Thurs are another way that for the price of the ordinary, you get something extra ordinary!Marriot Courtyard Addison - 1.61 miles www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/dalad-courtyard-dallas-addison-midway/King, $69 2 Queens, $79 2 Queen Suite (1 bedroom, 1 living room), $119 Add $10 per room if you want breakfast there in the morning.

Hmmm...only 3 weeks away. 12 days before the deadline to OOtB. Very, very dangerous suggestion, Anna!

I'd be willing to extend the OOTB deadline a wee bit for those who are submitting a story there... 0:-) Of course, it's not just my call!

Okay, called the con hotel and got details about their suites. First - the bedroom is separate. Second - they don't have anymore executive suites available at the con rate of $112. Third - they have ONE King executive suite left at the non-con rate. That's $229/night Thursday, $159/night Friday & Saturday. FOURTH - I decided to go ahead and make a reservation because I'm such a positive personality. I've a Double non-smoking reserved (not a suite), and I'm willing to take room mates. The reservation is for check in on Thursday, September 17th and check out on Monday, September 21st, because I HATE arriving at the con the day it starts and leaving the day it ends. I'm willing to share with up to four people. If it turns out that I can't go, I'll transfer the room to one of my room mates, easy-peasy.

I have airline tickets and a room reserved. Woo-hoo! It's official! Don't think I'll get a story for the contest this year, but maybe next year.

I've been needing a new suitcase for a while, so I finally bought one today--with a built-in trolley handle and wheels. Yea! I am never lugging my luggage through an airport by loading it onto a dolly, again! Too much trouble. *happy sigh*
Interestingly, I walked through the entire Walmart's parking lot, pulling this suitcase behind me, through the movie theater parking lot, and across the street to my house, without any police officers or Walmart security personnel stopping me.
Nest week, I'll try for a flat-screen TV. (g) Surely, there's one that will fit into my suitcase...
