Trini--It's a no-go. I realized that the box a flat-screen TV would come in wouldn't fit in the suitcase, alas. *snicker*

FenCon: I have bought my airline tickets. I'll be arriving on Southwest Airlines on Friday, Sept. 18 at 11:00am at Love Field. On Sunday, September 20, my flight leaves Love Field at 4:00pm.

Well, my old friend and former college roommate, Quasar, aka Russ, aka Dr. McMillan, and her husband, will be at Fenn Con and sharing my room, which is a nice surprise! She posted about gravity at the beginning of the club, but needs to be dragged in more actively. 'Cause she's also a writer, not just an astronomer who was on MythBusters.

Russ was on MythBusters? Fantastic! How long ago? That's great, that she'll be coming.

It was a bit ago...the episode that dealt with the myth that the Moonshot was faked. She's the expert in the last 5 minutes of the show who proved that people have been to the moon. Questions on FenCon--is this a jeans and t-shirt kind of Con, a Hall Costumes kind of Con, or a dressier, "business casual" kind of Con? What will I be most confortable in, in that whole "clothes are camouflage" respect?

Chantal -- If you don't mind hanging at the airport for awhile, I can pick you up on Friday, since Hope comes in about an hour and a half after you. Hope-- This is a t-shirt and jeans kind of con. There are a few costumes outside the masquerade, but mostly you just see some eclectic renn faire/steampunk/goth mix in the hallway during the day. But mostly Saturday clothes. Even the pros are fairly casual--I usually wear jeans and a cute tee or other casual top.

Thanks, Trini! Jeans and t-shirt (perhaps with pithy buttons if I feel ambitious) is my favorite kind of Con. And I should get by with just carryon if I don't bring garb. Happy, happy, happy!!!!

Okay, my plans have changed somewhat. I HAD planned to arrive on Thursday evening and leave Monday. But I have class Thursday nights, and I can't really afford to miss two days of work. So I'll be arriving on Friday and departing sometime on Sunday. But I will most definitely be there!

Anna--Yes, definitely! Do you need to add my name to the room? That'd probably make payment easier.

I'll take care of it when I get there. I plan to arrive before noon on Friday, so if you don't want to wait for Trini, I'll be in town early enough to pick you up at the airport when you land. EDIT: I added your name to the reservation this morning. I had to call and make some changes to arrival/departure, anyway.

Four more office days and a weekend of call before my marvelous, wonderful, 4 day vacation!!!!!
Understand, I would not trade the worst day of parenthood for the very best day before parenthood...but a short vacation from my beloved children is a rare and wonderful treat. And seeing friends I haven't seen since Geo was a toddler is extremely exciting!!!!
I keep forgetting that not all of you will be there, but we know you'll be there in spirit!
On the RCM front...I got my copy of _The Splendor Falls_ yesterday. (Preordered in March. Compulsive? Me?) I'm trying to decide whether it will fit in my carry on to get it signed....

Purse, Hope. Get a nice, big bag purse. That way you can tuck the book in there and not worry about what will fit into the carry-on.
