OK, tell me you haven't thought of it. In my youth, I wanted Lindsey Wagner as Lessa, and Melissa Sue Anderson as Brekke. Oh, and Sean Cassidy for F'nor. Well, that was...MANY...years ago. If you had the privelege of casting a life-action dragonriders movie, who would you pick? Personally, I'd like Emma Watson, from Harry Potter, as Brekke. Before her turn as Sookie Stackhouse, I would have thought Anna Paquin as Lessa. I think she could still do it, but she could also pull off Kylara. Who do you like for F'lar, F'nor, Manora, Menolly, Jaxom, Mirrim, Lessa, Brekke, Kylara, and all the rest? I imagine this as the original trilogy in one movie, although it could be a trilogy of films, too.

Ohhhh, that was one of my FAVORITE topics on the GEnie PernCat.
Let's see . . .
Lessa -- Eva Green F'lar -- Daniel Day-Lewis F'nor -- Matthew Fox Brekke -- Natalie Portman Kylara -- Kim Basinger or Charlize Theron Meron -- Ian McShane Robinton -- Patrick Stewart Groghe -- Gene Hackman Manora -- Tyne Daly Jaxom -- Daniel Radcliffe Mirrim -- I could see Emma Watson in this role too! Menolly -- I can't think of an actress who'd do her justice!

I think Holly Hunter would be awesome as Lessa, except for the accent. I don't think I've ever heard her without it. (Except in The Piano, where she didn't speak at all.) Anyway. She LOOKS the part, at least as the character is a little older.)
And no one will ever match the F'lar in my head.

You know, with the recent interest in YA movies...DragonSong, etc, would be naturals. Who should we write to suggest it to? I could see new line cinemas taking it up....

Ok, my two cents as the young guy of this crazy bunch of writers. Now, I'll say it right here and now, I'm not a big film guy. Meaning, I'm clueless when it comes to actors and actresses. That said. I'll weigh in on suggestions thus far.
Radcliff as Jaxom I can't see. Partially due to his accent, partially due to his build. Watson, the jury's hung. My mind can't see her as Brekke, but the little voice to my right says give her a chance.
Ya'll have to give me a few days to research. I'm a Stage actor by trade, and film artists are mostly unknown to me.

Anne pretty much dumped the whole 'make it a movie' project in Todd's lap. In the middle of a panel at D*C, no less. He looked a bit stunned, if I recall.

Oh! For Menolly - Mylie Cyrus. She's prettier than Menolly was supposed to be, I think, but for Menolly the voice is the most important. Piemur described it as 'kinda furry' and I think Mylie Cyrus (aka Hannah Montana) comes close.

Hmmm...I agree, the voice is key for Menolly, and Mylie Cyrus has a voice that's at least half a decade deeper than it has any right to be. I could see that.
You know, the kid who plays Draco Malfoy might make a decent Elgion with dark hair and without the snear...I could see him as an earnest and young harper.

What about Orlando Bloom for Sebell? I don't know if Bloom can sing, but Sebell's voice was never his forte. He's the quiet, stable, bedrock guy who can pull authority when it's needed. I can see Bloom pulling that off.

Eeeeeh. Maybe. Any thought's on Lytol? I've been beating my head for the past few, and can't come up with anyone that'd do him justice.

What about Alan Rickman? When he's not dyed black-haired for Snape, he's got a serious, distinguished, mature look to him that would seem to suit Lytol.

I could see that working. Little aging via the wonderful world of make-up and magic and yes. I could really see it.

Hmmm...OK, to rock things up a bit...how about Mandy Patinken for Robinton, and Viggo Mortenson for F'lar?
Who would you like as Fax?

If he can SING?!?! Oh, barbaric youth! Listen to him as Che in Evita. He has the most glorious voice!
