It's very tempting, when writing a dragonrider, to assume that all they do is fly 'Fall. That the rest of their time is free to do as they wish.
Well, I do hate to disappoint, but's just not so. A dragonrider is responsible for his or her well-being, the health and care of their dragon, and in maintaining their gear in perfect condition. And, most importantly, always being in their top form for fighting Thread. That means that a dragonrider's daily schedule is pretty jam packed.
Below is a very generalized schedule. Yes, there will be some variations. Some Wingleaders may vary their drill times. When T5:00am – 6:00am:hread falls, it throws everything off. You also have to factor in extra time for those dragon baths (as opposed to cleanings) which take a lot of time, those days when the dragon needs to hunt, and those times where a mating flight intrudes.
Dragonriders just don't really have any free time... So, before you write your character being highly involved in something else, you need to look at this and figure out whether or not they are that involved - and if you want them to be a dragonrider, or a crafter.
Dragonrider Daily Schedule:
5:00am-6:00am: Get up and get breakfast.
6:00am – 7:00am: Check riding gear.
7:00am – 11:00am: Wing Drills
11:00am-12:00pm: Clean dragon & check gear post-drills.
12:00pm – 1:00pm: Midday Meal
1:00pm -5:00pm: Gear repair and work on making new gear to replace current when it wears out, extra drills, and sweep patrols.
5:00pm-6:00pm: Evening meal
6:00pm-Bedtime: free time, or time spent working on crafts and hobbies used to earn extra marks.
