Here is were I read the info on how to 'dive into a story' Potter's Hall StarRise Hold's territory is pottery, although tapestries come a close second. There has been talk of making a Potter's Hall somewhere in StarRise Hold's territory, with good rich soil for various types of pottery
I have the starting of a back story, In Igen territory, and have it after the re-opening of StarRise Wyer.

I wouldn't think Igen would do for pottery. It's mostly desert. And really, while we have nothing against backstories - they are necessary, sometimes - I prefer for writers to focuse on 'current' day. It keeps us from getting bogged down in one point in time, and it keeps everyone on the same page in acting/reacting to events that happen to your character, but may impact another member's characters. So don't worry so much about backstory. If there's something important, put it in the character's history and general background on the character sheet. Focus on writing for 'today.'

Do you want to own the character, or do you just need the character for a one-off use?

Do you want to own the character, or do you just need the character for a one-off use? I want make a bunch of stories, hopeful expand more on the Pottery Hall idea.
