Hello ladies! Are any of your queens looking for a good looking young bronze for her next mating flight? May I introduce myself? I am Cammoranth. I'm a fairly good size for a bronze, young and strong and quite good at fighting Thread if I do say so myself. My rider, M'lin, isn't to bad himself for a human. He's pretty quiet until you get to know him. We're from Benden so we aren't related to anyone if you're worried about that. M'lin's funny about things like that. If you are interested just give me a wink.

*wink*
Cammoranth--My rider and I are away from StarRise right now, but I will definitely look you up, once we return. We should be back sometime in the second week of the third month, next turn.
*thinks* You could come visit us at Theran Weyr, if you like. My rider would be so surprised!
I love fighting Thread, though it is annoying to be unable to flame it. Flamethrowers just aten't the same.
I'm a rich golden color, with long wings, and I love to fly. Feeling up to it, handsome?
Sincerely,
Invirith

Ah lovely lady, I'm more than ready. Of course it might be a surprise for my rider but as my dam, Candith says "What's good for the dragon is good for his/her rider whether they believe it or not."
Hmm Chantal, maybe we could work out something that M'lin for some reason is sent to Theran. He no sooner lands than Cam joins the mating flight. Let me know what you think.

O.k, what reason would M'lin have for going to Theran? The pot is starting to perk so maybe I'll get a story going.

Since when do bronzeriders need a reason? But he could be delivering something to Alissi; hide-work, most likely, and a few messages preparing for her return. Maybe some delicacies from the Lower Cavern...if Amai would entrust them to a young man with a healthy appetite.... Or there might be a gather, or satisfying a bet, or any number of silly reasons why a young man with the day off might end up there.

Dispatch duty for the Weyrleader. Or even being ordered to go simply to check on Alissi. D'ven's very protective of his riders. He'll be keeping close tabs on Alissi's recovery, so when he's too busy to go see for himself, he'll send someone else. Choosing a young bronzerider serves a dual purpose: checking on Alissi and exposing the young bronzerider to leadership at other Weyrs. Faranth only knows when that young bronzerider could suddenly become Weyrleader. No, no, there aren't any plots in that direction. Just thinking from D'ven's perspective!

Oh I like the dispatch reason. This is going to catch M'lin flat footed. I can see him talking to the Weyrleader when suddenly it is hormone city. He hears Cam say, "I can catch her!" and Cam's off. M'lin has no idea who or what or where. Don't get me wrong, he likes the ladies and they like him but he likes to have some kind of warning and at least know who he is going to end up in bed with.
Now Cam is thinking that M'lin is to picky. Here he has the lovely Dani between him and P'dron and he's barely a nodding acquaintance. It's time a smart dragon takes his riders under his wing so to speak.

Would Alissi be recovered enough for a mating flight? Chantal, choose a date that you feel would work for you. I can work around almost anything.

Deb--I was going to vote for, "Because Benden is COLD, and Theran is WARM!" I forgot that M'lin would already be at StarRise. (g) Delivering messages or other items to Alissi works for me.
However, I should warn you that Alissi will be unable to handle a mating flight when Invirith Rises at Theran. I think she's still in the cast at that time, so M'lin would have to share the flight with a stand-in. Are you/he okay with that?
Oh, God...And there she'll be in that cast, FRUSTRATED as heck...*dies laughing*
Alissi: "It's NOT funny!"
Me: "Oh, yes, it is! Hehehehe!"

Oh I think it would be funnier if he doesn't meet Alissi at all. Then when she comes back to StarRise, Cam is familiar with a strange queen and he has no idea whose she is. As long as it is a female, he probably wouldn't really care at that point. :snicker: Hmm.. I think when he wakes up the woman is gone so he really has no idea.

I did some changes on it last night that I will send to you but let me know if you like the basic idea. Hey this guy is only 19. This is his first gold flight. He was raised that you don't tresspass in another Weyr unless you have permission, then he wakes up and the woman is gone and it's like "Oh Shards! I'm so dead. If D'ven doesn't do me in, Mom will!"

Deb--LMAO!!!!! Poor M'lin!
I'll have to look in my email. I know I got the original version of this story, but I don't remember seeing an update. I probably haven't scrolled down far enough.
