I've never actually been in a Pern writing group that closed the Harper Hall, since its involvement throughout Pern has been so pervasive.
I read in the Benden section that the Harper Hall has been/is/was closed to development and writing.
Now, it seems like a good time to discuss this and see where everyone stands on this point, and in particular those of you who are in this world "the-powers-that-be."
Just asking because I was planning to use the Harper Hall in stories and suppose I'd like some decisions before moving forward.
Cheers!

The reason the Harper Hall is closed to member 'ownership' is out of respect for Anne McCaffrey. Way back many years ago, when Benden Weyr, Ruatha Hold, and the Harper Hall were deemed off-limits in EVERY group, someone from the Mainstream Tenth Pass (which is the parent for us) asked her to at least name the MasterHarper and Ruathan Lord and Lady for us to refer to in our writing. She did so, and so it shall remain, out of respect for her.

Okay. So, can I take a leap that writing there for stories, particularly in retrospect and/or reference, is not strictly off limits as opposed to writing from some perspective of ownership or altering the craft direction current or past.
I guess I could always submit some story ideas and/or character histories and see what happens, eh?

Oh, writing at the Harper Hall isn't off limits. Feel free to do that!
