>.> I would really like to start doing something. Unfortunately, I'm drawing a huge blank on stories or even characters. I never had any characters at StarRise--Fort and High Reaches were it, for me. I'm thinking of moving my bronzerider from High Reaches to here--the HR WL hates R'iak, so I'm sure Erin could work that out for me. And I think he'd be interesting to play here, but that partially depends on Karra and what we end up doing, as R'iak and Karra were pretty tied together. R'iak is born and bred High Reaches and has a lot of pride of where he comes from with a strong sense of "home". He'd be utterly lost and flustered by being transfered to StarRise. He's a bit stuffy and very "proper" and would have an interesting time at StarRise, I think, as he learns his place. But !! A) Are you guys even still taking bronzes? B) I'm not against playing a new character, but ... I need inspiration and help. Any ideas? Anyone need anything? I'm so slow at these things. I was always more an artist, than a really inspired writer. Especially if I had to write by myself...

Jenn! You're a wonderful writer--so don't even pretend otherwise! ;D
I'm more than happy to do a collab with you, if it helps at all? feel free to drop me an email if you want to.

You know, it doesn't HAVE to be a dragonrider character at StarRise. And I'm always willing to colab, or help come up with ideas. I guess we just need to know what character you want to play, and then we can get you into all sorts of trouble.

Jenn...if you really want to play a bronzerider, new or old, because you're excited by the character and the possibilities, then absolutely you can! If you're transferring him more as a default, then I wouldn't. The good news is: you have time! Yes, stories are already coming in (and we're happy and grateful), but the deadline isn't for almost FOUR MONTHS. I agree with Erica and Anna that I would love to collab with you. So...to find your happy place at StarRise, ask yourself a few questions: what characters you've written in the past have been most fun to write, and why? What blend of conflict and community are you most comfortable with? What's the farthest character outside your comfort zone you could even consider writing? Then, go at it from the other end...start doodling until something you draw speaks to you and says "Write me, infidel!" When all else fails, take someone you know, and translate them into Pern. That's how Charles came up with Taveera. And sort of what I did when I adopted A'larin.

Hope's right. Regardless of color ratios (which I way too easily get distracted by!) no transfer is an automatic 'no' because of the numbers. If you're excited by the character and the personality just suits a bronze, then you can transfer one in. So, just figure out who you want and we'll take off running with you from there.

So, Jenn--Did you decide to bring R'iak over or someone else? Inquiring minds who found this topic after Ike want to know.

Not that you know me, but sometimes when I have a block, that's exactly the time I really need to keep writing even if its bad. Because, more often then not I'm needing to reach the other side and when that happens I reach the better stuff. I once needed a poem for my UW poetry program...and nothing was coming...and I took a walk and played with bad stuff intentionally and then while I was walking along the phrase...You won't find the monkey on my back, the alligator ate him. I know, an odd phrase but it turned out to be one of the best I've ever written and I was quite blocked.
Good luck.

True--because the only way to get something written is to write.
