Hey, Kris,
I never wrote about this, but I did mention when Aerden Impressed his firelizard that he didn't want to Impress her, because he knew she would feel his migraines.
Any idea what medicines Aerden might get from the dragonhealers to help ease Marritza's pain?

Hi, Chantal, Tell me a little about Aerden's migraines--how strong they are, how long they last, and what if anything eases them (even a little). I'll see what I can find.

Kris--Aerden gets migraines anywhere between one or two a month to a couple a week, sometimes. He has a really monster-bad one about twice a turn that renders him unconscious without recourse to drugs. The normal ones last 24-36 hours. The really bad ones can last for two days or a little longer.
There is a psychological or psychosomatic component to them. Fellis is the only drug Aerden has found that works--but it doesn't ease the pain; it just knocks him out until the pain subsides.
They've been quiescent for a while, but I am ratcheting up the plot now, so they'll be getting worse.

Yikes. I was going to suggest fellis, but I had a feeling it wouldn't work with Aerden's migraines--it's such a common painkiller that if it was useful, Aerden wouldn't have problems. I had no idea it had that effect on him, though.
I have a guide to dragonhealing somewhere on my computer. I've been up and down all day with a sick stomach, so I'll see what I can find for you in the morning.

Kris--I hope you're feeling better! I really hate having an upset stomach, because it usually means I'll have intestine trouble a few hours later. I'm thinking there might be something like an OTC sleeping aid that would do the trick.

Thanks, Chantal. Pepto did the trick. OK, I can't remember where I read it, but isn't fellis poisonous to dragonkind? That would leave numbweed. I recall early--as in, years and years ago!--discussions about developing numbweed pills for fast internal absorption, for people who might have an allergic reaction to fellis. It occurs to me that numbweed tablets would be a fabulous painkiller for dragons and firelizards as well. What do you think about this for poor Marritza? Of course, if she's suffering along with Aerden, she may also need to be kept in a dark, quiet space too . . . ::scratches head:: Poor thing.

I remember reading somewhere that numbweed was discovered when people observed whers and firelizards rubbing against the leaves when they were injured. Not sure how well it would work as an internal medication, but it definitely works topically.

I remember reading somewhere that numbweed was discovered when people observed whers and firelizards rubbing against the leaves when they were injured. <sinp> DLGP DLG - The Dragonlover's Guide to Pern (Jody Lynn Nye) and DD, DDawn - Dragonsdawn Not sure how well it would work as an internal medication, but it definitely works topically. Drums, H3 - Dragondrums, MasterHealer would take the purest of the salve and turn into a powder for internal use, and it was used to stop coughs in Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern. NS, Ner - Nerilka's Story Also there is one more, willow salic. Here is the books you are talking about, I think. had to <sinp> in order to fit in.
