A small boy was severely injured and his parents were killed. Any ideas?

Change the date to 22.09.05 and there could be several earthquakes. But there was a very serious one, for sure, at Wintersbreath Hold in Southern Weyr's territory. Lots of people died. That's the day the meteor hit Crystal and the Weyr blew up. Yes, exploded. Massive ka-boom.
