(A Ruathan-style reel, written by Harper Kimo in Turn 6)
set to "Fisherman's Blues," by the Waterboys--kd
Just another day at liberty, And I've been walking in the rain. You come down in drops of memory, Bringing back my life again. I'm the coldest that I've been in turns; There's no fire left in me. It's a loneliness you think I've earned, So I know I'll never be Light on my feet, with you in my arms.
(Bridge)
I'd like to wear your kiss upon my cheek And smell the garden of your hair. I want to hear your sweet voice calling me Like a firelizard faire. I've been drinking since the night you left; You won't come back home to me. I have nothing left that's good or true, And I know I'll never be Right in my head, whole in my heart.
(Bridge; interlude with viol, gitar)
I dreamed that fellis flowers fell on me In a soft and gentle rain, From a cloud of silent sympathy Come to wash away the pain. I can't ever close my eyes to sleep Without seeing you in dreams. If I could only have you back again, My love would flow in golden streams Bright as my faith, true as my heart.
(Bridge; end.)

Kris, I like that. Wish I had the talent to write songs. My youngest brother and nephew can but then my brother can play anything he gets his hands on and can't read a note.

Kris, that is lovely! Was it written for a particular character, or complete in itself?

Hi, Hope,
I wrote it for a ForTen story, "Trial of Heart." It's written by K'nelan's dead father Kimo, something he originally intended to win back K'nelan's mother; unfortunately, she died before he could finish it. K'nelan never forgave Kimo for not bringing him from Healer Hall back to Fort Hold for her funeral. Finding the drafts of that song made K'nelan realize just how wounded Kimo was by her death, and helped him understand--if still not forgive.
I always wanted to do a filk to "Fisherman's Blues," but couldn't think of one until I started writing the story. The lyrics practically wrote themselves. If I ever duplicate that again, I'll have a glass of champagne to celebrate.
