Okay, I wrote this way back in...well. Before I began my gypsy wanderings. I remember, I worked on this a bit at a time, shortly after joining Crescent Weyr. I worked at Perkins restaurant in Blytheville. We had to roll like 50 silverware settings before we could leave work each day, and for a while I'd be thinking of this and jotting it down between rolls. So, anyway. I'll be the first to post something. Just don't ask me to sing. I have limits to the embarassment I'm willing to endure. Shawn's Song by Anna Smith In the darkness Before the dawn, When all life Seems dead and gone, I sit and dream Of the day When I could laugh, And fly and play. But laughter is Naught but a dream, That is not all That it would seem. And so I sit Here all alone, And mourn for what I could have known. Of flying in The sunlit blue. The wind and me; The clouds and you And laughter is Naught but a dream, That is not all That it would seem. But now you're gone, From unlucky flame. And I still live- To my shame. That I should stay Whilst you die. In the darkness Where I lie. And laughter is Naught but a dream, That is not all That it would seem. Yes, laughter is Naught but a dream. And, without you, A darkened theme.

Oh, Anna...very powerful, very painful. Was the tune yours as well, or is it set to other music? I see I posted mine to the wrong place.

The tune is pretty much in my head and since I can neither write nor read music, the tune will remain forever locked in my head alone. Maybe when I'm geographically closer to Megan and Angel, they can actually put it to music and sing it for me.
