GENERAL BACKGROUND: Vylanda is the eldest daughter of a journeyman smith and his wife. She was born in the smith crafthall near Telgar Hold. She has always known she was beautiful and she has always used to it her advantage. As a result, she was very vain and petty at a young age. When she was 16, her father transferred from the Hall to Ista Sea Hold. The Lord Heir, Arlen, was smitten with her from the first moment he saw her. Vylanda knew this and encouraged him, as her eye was on his future title. They were married after a few months, and almost immediately Arlen realized his mistake.
About a year after Arlen and Vylanda got married, Zea, their eldest daughter, was born. They were happy, but realized that a son was preferred for the heir, as Ista Sea Hold had peculiar inheritance laws. By the time their fourth daughter was born, Lord Adric was dead, Arlen was Lord Holder, and they desperately needed a son. A year later, their fifth daughter was born in an extremely difficult birth and it was recommended that Vylanda not have any more children. As multiple wives were illegal, this put Arlen in a bind and confirmed his brother Iren as Lord Heir. Their eldest daughter Zea would not inherit the hold unless she married someone extraordinary. So, Vylanda began her mission to marry her eldest daughter well. Just over a turn ago, Arlen fudged the hold's laws and confirmed their second daughter as Lady Heiress. Vylanda took some of the marriage pressure of Zea, and has now expanded it to all of her eligible daughters.
PERSONALITY TRAITS: Vylanda is vain, petty, stupid, insipid, irritating, a hypochondriac, annoying, snobby, snotty, and almost every other negative adjective that can describe a person. She is obsessed with getting her daughters married so she can stay in the relative comfort of her current position at the Hold.
