(Cross-posted to other Weyr territory lists....)
At MoonSet, I had several minor holds and cotholds. I put a LOT of work into setting them up and I'd like to have them continue. So. I shall list here the holds and cotholds, and if you would like one of them to be located in your major Hold's territory, please let me know. Gotta make sure the export of the hold/cothold matches what's done in the territory, you know...
Fireheights Minecot:
Small fields of basic crops are maintained to provide the cotters with food sufficient for themselves, but the cot’s entire focus is mining firestone. That is their only export, and all other goods except for food basics are imported.
The majority of firestone is sent to the weyr, however a percentage is retained at the cothold and used to produce a phosphine/carbon dioxide fumigant used for stored foodstuffs. The mixture is 98% carbon dioxide and 2% phosphine. The percentages renders the usually highly flammable and toxic phosphine inflammable and safe.
Firestone can be purchased in the rock state and shipped to the end destination to have the fumigant mixed, or tanks of pre-made fumigant can be aquired from Fireheights.
Firestone, hundredweight 1 mark
Fumigant, per tank 2 marks
Azure Isle Hold (name/location would need changing)
Azure Isle Hold raises sheep and fishes Azure Sea. Many of their needs are imported, but their exports include wool, felt, sheepskin, mutton, fish, and ice. Their primary responsibility is not to make profit, but to ensure the security of the territories of Black Rock and Roaring Cliffs Hold. They patrol Azure Sea and Black Rock River until it’s too shallow/narrow for ships to pass.
Shansu Bay Seacot
Fish. The cot does a lot of fishing, and exporting of fish. They are also a point of trade, being the first official ‘southern continent’ holding. They docks and warehouses are well developed at the cot, with a lot of activity.

Saythwind Hold (name will need changing)
Saythwind produces a variety of goods, but it is best known for the dyes it produces. Those dyes, along with cotton and flax fibers, are the Hold's main exports. The indigo dye the Hold produces is favored among weavers for it's vibrant color and fade resistance. Saythwind does produce a reddish lager in small batches for Hold consumption, as well as a redfruit liqueur. A stand of carefully cultivated forest provides fresh fruit for the Hold as well as lumber for furniture making. Saythwind maintains a herd of animals to provide meat, hides, and wool for local use. Even the fat of the beasts is used to make tallow candles. The Holds only major imports are metal goods from the Smithcraft and finished cloth from the Weavercraft.
Saffron Cothold
The cot’s main exports are saffron and wheat. Small fields of other grains and vegetables are maintained to supply the cot itself, but the growing and harvesting of the saffron is demanding enough that there’s not much time or manpower left for growing more crops for export. The saffron and wheat fields are used cyclically, rotating every seven turns to allow the soil to replenish lost nutrients.
Abundance Cothold
The cot has fields to grow food for itself, and a ship to fish with, but it is almost fully supported by Roaring Cliffs Hold. It’s tithe to the Hold is to provide the services and amenities for dragonriders as dictated by the Lady Holder. Dragonriders can avail themselves of the cot’s hospitality at no charge, but certain extra services do have a small cost. Dragonriders who retire to Abundance Cot are allowed to do so at no charge, in recognition and appreciation for the service they have done for Pern over the turns. However, the cot does request a small tithe from any inhabitants who earn money while living at Abundance, to assist in supporting the cot.
Darkstone Cothold
Darkstone Minecot mines coal. The folk at Darkstone appear stoic and reserved to outsiders, keeping themselves somewhat apart from the ‘overground’ folk from outside the cot. Darkstoners are characterized as direct, hardworking people who don’t say much and don’t put up with much, either.

Darkstone has enough fields and crops to maintain the basic dietary needs for the cothold, but most goods need to be imported.
Shattered Rock Hold (name may need changing)
Shattered Rock Hold has two primary focuses: farming, and the breeding, training, and use of runners for the Southern Runner and Carter Service.

Meridil Hold
The rainfall in the area is moderate providing excellent support for pasture, grain fields, and food production. Meridil Hold has a large herd of cattle and a small herd of sheep that provide meat for local use and hides and wool for export. It also keeps a small stable of sturdy runners they use for transportation more than breeding. They also maintain a small fleet of riverboats that transport their harvests down river to Roaring Cliff Hold. Hunting and fishing are popular pastimes for the men and women of Meridil as well as being a necessary staple to their diet.
