We could use a Weyrjack. And some more healers--because healers are fun! Just sayin'.

Harpers, huh? Think a second-knot journeyman harper with an appetite for destruction would be welcome . . . ?

Anna--Re the Weyrjack--Charles wrote him. His name is Al'dor, and he was wonderful! He's the ancestor of Charles' 10th Pass characters.

Chantal--I think, technically, Nancy Janda's character N'konn was/is the Weyrjack. He was(is) competent. Al'dor was a Smith apprentice who Impressed and so never got any further training, but never lost his passion for inventing. He was rarely referred to as "competent". Brilliant, yes. Demented, yes. A menace, definitely. Which reminds me that I have a story to finish for Fort 9, the last existing paper club.... It occurs to me how cool it would be to do that story in 9th pass, and then write the "mythic" version as passed down to descendants in the 10th pass....

Are they still active? Did you ever hear back from them regarding that thing we discussed at FenCon?

Yes, they're still active, publishing about twice a year. No, I didn't hear back. I'll hunt up my email and send it again. --Hope

Hope--Oh, that's right! N'konn was the Weyrjack. But Al'dor and U'chek provided...inspiration. I need to send Deb my $15 check to rejoin Fort 9. I'm bringing D'mir back...'Cause I've missed writing him, and I can't figure out a way to Pernize Paul Graves. (g)

Once I understand this more I might have an idea or two or three, stewing in the back of my mind.

A term from Fort Weyr (9th Pass): Jack of all trades. Sound like a care over from Dragonsdawn for there were a few joat in the there, Also a trader would learn little bit of everything.
