Really!
I'm asking because Mark & I are now officially planning to relocate ourselves....and I'd like to know if anyone's in the North East...and whereabouts?
We're thinking anywhere between central/western NY (Syracuse way), or Maine. The property prices and job situation are definite factors...
Anyone? Or anyone anywhere else that wants to plug it? ;D

Suki and I (and of course Charles!) are in Central Mass, which is close enough to visit from either of those. Distances are much smaller in New England than most of the country. Prices are expensive in Central Mass, so only look here if you have a job offer; of course, the housing market has fallen A LOT, so you may not want to completely rule it out. And I can put you up for a night or two if you're in the area!

Maine? *shivers* If you ever decide you want some warmth, my husband Mark and I live in Houston, Texas.

Kelli and Erin are in Washington state. Andy is in California. Kris is in Arizona. Susan, Chantal, Angel, and Trini are in Texas. I will be in Louisiana. Dave is in Alabama. Thom is in Illinois.
So, to get the most folks closest, you need to move to eastern Texas. <g>

When I was living in Albany, I could drive to a number of places & states in a very short time. I'm having a difficult time getting that concept across to my husband though. So, to get the most folks closest, you need to move to eastern Texas. <g> ;D Nah, I'm a northern girl. I've lived in Florida for 8 years, and out in Colorado as well. And I've still I've got family in and friends in Texas & Kansas though. I can't deal with the heat (but I can cope with the cold & snow!)

I'm such a dork. I had to go look where Erica is now. I couldn't figure out why (on the C-box) she kept going to bed so early! I was like, does she work weird hours? What? Just UK hours. Texas would definitely be a big jump, and not just geographically, from living in the UK.

Yes, but I am at home, and the weather forcast is for 15 MPH from the north. My hang glider is loaded on the truck. I hope I get to fly, I have been bound to the ground for far to long...

Two of my friends from high school are living in Vermont now, and apparently it's gorgeous up there. Looking at Anna's list, I can picture the map starting up in Massachusetts, then down to Alabama, west across Louisiana, Texas, to Arizona and California, and finally up to Washington. Connect the dots and it's kinda like a big smile. Then there's me up in Illinois. *sigh* But wait! Jenn McCallum's in Kansas, isn't she? So I'm not the only one here in the middle of the country! Yay! EDIT: As another plug, I've been looking into North Carolina, specifically the Charlotte area. Prices are decent, and the job market isn't horrible there... my own company is expanding there (CSA's, anyone?) and I don't think we're the only ones. It is a bit South, though...

/sigh. I'm currently stuck in SW Arkansas. Close enough to Texas and Oklahoma to smell them. I so miss living in Washington state.

*sigh* The economy...boo. Well the way things are looking right now, the signs are pointing towards western NY, possibly Syracuse. MA in general is too pricey for us, since neither of us work in high salary fields (heck, Mark's going to have to do a complete career change--which I hope will help with his stress level) Maine just won't be do-able (the # of jobs vs. population) and although a few friends are trying to persuade us to go to PA....I think it just gets too hot there in the summer.... So Thom, as lovely as the Carolinas are (lived in SC for a few months) they're just not for me. Or Mark, either Kitty--Arkansas? Eek... What brought you there?? I'm such a dork. I had to go look where Erica is now. I couldn't figure out why (on the C-box) she kept going to bed so early! I was like, does she work weird hours? What? Just UK hours. Texas would definitely be a big jump, and not just geographically, from living in the UK. LOL! Yea, weird hours alright! No, I\m living in england until my husband and I relocate *for me. it'll be his first time* to the states. I miss it terribly! Although the thought of doing another transatlantic move makes my gut wrench! Ugh!

I met someone and fell in love but love doesn't chase away AR humidity! I hope to someday move back to Spokane.

Indeed! Though I'm betting UK was infinitely more interesting than AR.... unless you like sitting around watching the bug-zapper as Friday night entertainment.

Not a place renowned for its social life. If you're not drinking beer and watching 'footie' or getting 'pissed outta your head' then they're prone to looking at you funny. as for tv ..well you have to pay for a tv license here--or no tv for you. My husband stands by his principles which means he refuses to let us get one because we'd be subsidizing crappy tv programs. *sigh* so I watch what I can get on the web (mostly japanese drama)

The no TV thing wouldn't bother me. When my hubby and I got together I didn't even own a TV. However if that was applied to *books* there would be blood in the water.....
