Ah, o.k. I just remembered that Anne had been really adamant about it because of the stink a couple people had raised when some other clubs had silvers. They thought they should have the only ones so they ruined it for everyone.

Yep. That's why when Anna and Kelli resurrected Telgar and Ista they made it an invite-only club and the silvers were there on express permission from Todd and Anne. And anyone who someone wanted to bring into the club had to go through Anna or Kelli prior to even knowing about it because of the big fuss about the silvers prior. And why it is best that they thought Kelli's silverrider not be WW at Telgar.
Am I right Anna? Kelli? Correct me if I'm wrong, since I wasn't leadership back then I don't remember all the particulars.

When Susan and I originally 'restarted' Ista, we specifically requested permission to use the original rules and guidelines it had operated under - which allowed silvers. Anne McCaffrey agreed. Since there was no group shut down when leadership passed to Kelli, the approval carried over to her when she took over leadership, and when Telgar was incorporated as part of Ista. That, however, is now beside the point. The rules for Pern groups have relaxed immensely. Pretty much the only 'rule' now is that if you want to have a link on her website, you have to have the copyright disclaimer on your website. Out of courtesy, most fan groups operate under her original, basic requests - don't use her characters, women on golds, men on bronzes, no religion, ect. So, while we're not drawing a great deal of attention to it, there are silvers in this timeline. I'm figuring we'll pretty much confine them to just Ista and Telgar, however.

Sounds like a good idea. It was a pretty nasty time back then. From what I learned later and yes I had a infertile silver, everyone but Haven had their silvers molt. A friend that had gone to DragonCon said Anne made a comment about only one Weyr doing it right and doing it with style. Haven was the only one who killed theirs off. We knew then that she might not have read SILVER FAREWELL but she had been told about it.

I remember the big Silver Farewell over at Haven -- and yeah, it was absolutely done with style. And such a shame about the whole thing, too; if it hadn't been for one club ignoring the rules there wouldn't have been a problem. *sigh*

Unfortunately Greg a couple people let petty jealousy ruin it for a lot of others but we got past it and went on to have a great time anyway.

I had a dream last night that there was a gathering of Pern people at my house, I had nothing ready to feed them, and there was a supremely obnoxious young man I was trying to be polite to. When I asked him what Weyr club he ran, he told me "All of Them!" and proceeded to lay down bizarre rules including what kind of dice had to be used to roll of clutch charts. (I threw him out and ordered out pizza for everyone else. If only all crises could be handled so neatly!) So I think I know where the dream came from.

Since Igen's Weyrleader spot is open, do you think Andy would be interested in it?
And, by the way, do I still have Aryl at Ista? I think she rode a gold or else an infertile silver. It's been so long, I can't remember.

B'danet was put in the Igen Weyrleader slot. Aryl isn't on the Ista character list...so either she was removed from the Ista/Telgar character list before I grabbed it, or you didn't claim her so I took her off after initially posting the list here. I can't remember which.

Hola. I know I have absolutely no say here....but I need some plot information if I'm going to sort out J'tel and J'kon's entrance into StarRise with some solid and real in-story info. So, what I need is an incredibly dependable Weyrwoman who has been recently partner-free with whom I can inject into the near history of J'tel. This Weyrwoman, if possible, for the story sake have a somewhat-domineering personality. If you didn't read his sheet...what I'm hoping to create with everyone's help and blessing, a valid reason for someone like J'tel to have come to StarRise...so my vision is that J'tel is quite close with somewhat romantic hints with the Weyrwoman during his stint as a Weyrleader...though they don't actually blossom into true weyrmates. When J'tel doesn't win a flight due to injury, chaos errupts between him and the Weyrleader. With the heavy influence of the Weyrwoman withwhom he is close, J'tel and the Weyrwoman begin looking for a place for J'tel to land, while leaving this Weyr.
Thanks for any and all help, opinions, thoughts on how to make this work in harmony with all of the work you have done for this environment.

I've got two sr. Weyrwoman who'd fit the bill, but their current Weyrleaders would not. Both are used to being ousted as Weyrleader, then regaining the position, and have no problems working with their predecessors/successors. Fort's Weyrleadership has remained steady. Igen MIGHT be a possibility, but Kelli's pretty swamped with RL right now and I don't know when she'll be online to answer this question. Haven may do, or Southern. There's also always Benden. We always use Benden when we ahve nothing else immediately available.

Okay. These boys originally were southern bred and so that would work fantastically if we can make the elements jive. Who's got the pen for southern? This would also be helpful to know for any bad guy plotting that might happen.

Terry has Talora, the Weyrwoman. Natascha has J'temi, the Weyrleader. Nat isn't actually registered on the forum, but I can shoot her an email....

One thing to consider with the set up I'm looking for is that it doesn't have to be an evil based rivalry between J'tel and the weyrleader. Without reason, and perhaps being a bit cliched, two basically alpha males might just rub one another wrong even with stiff trying might find it difficult to work through. Neither one actually has to be in the wrong.
