I know what you mean. That's why I didn't kill of Cel. She was part of me.

I generally prefer to write brown dragons over any other color. Are the NPC Weyr the only option for them?

We're starting to get really heavy on bronzes/browns at StarRise, without enough greens and blues to balance them out. But I can understand having a preference - all it takes is a look at the character list to see I have a tendency for browns, myself! Would you be willing to start off with just one brown at StarRise, until our green/blue numbers increase a bit more?

So what should policy be, Anna? If you want to add a brown to StarRise directly, you need to add a blue or green as well? Or limit one new brown per player until numbers even up a little? I'm cool with either, and you'll probably have an option 3 (and maybe 4) that I'll also be cool with....

Hmm.. Candith is about 22. Please don't even suggest that she is getting old. We'll never be able to live with her. Oh but Why? That's what makes Haven Fun and known as the misfit weyr Oh the stories that come out with Candith one never know from one minute to the next with her

My first persona is actually destined to be a greenrider. I have plans down the line for two more greenriders and a blue rider and only one or two potential browns eventually. I'll just hold off on the browns and do them in a year or two.

Janet, Anna has been busy, so I'm going to make the call on this one. Since the main goal of the club is having fun, we're going to try to facilitate that as much as possible. That means anyone who wants them can have the first brownrider for free. If you want more than one, please try to have some blues and greens as well...or a really good reason. There are no writing requirements for brown riders; if we get inundated, we may introduce a writing requirement to have multiple browns, but the first brown remains free. Likewise, anyone who wants one can have one bronzerider; there is a writing requirement of one story yearly to have a bronzerider. This is seperate from the writing requirement to be a wingleader, as greens can be wingleader of an all green wing. If we get a lot of people interested in that, we can revive additional green wings. Similarly, if you want a bronzerider to be a wingleader, or your bronze or brown to be a wing second, but all the slots are filled, you can work towards opening an additional wing as the numbers expand. Remember, if your character impresses a bronze, writing requirements start then! I'd asked at the beginning that we keep ranking characters down to 5 per person for transfers back/into StarRise; additional characters can attain rank "along the way". Ranks include a master rank in any craft, Weyrcrafter for any craft, Wingleader, bronzerider, goldrider, Head Woman, Lord or Lady Holder. All of these have writing requirements, so if you want to transfer in more than five, we want the stories in our hot little hands...er, screens!...on the first 5 first. This only applies to StarRise proper. Remember that half of a member's stories have to take place at StarRise. (If you can handle more than 5 ranking characters, bless you. I'm totally swamped with the ones I've borrowed from my beloved husband!) Currently StarRise is full up of queens, but NPC Weyrs have openings. Talk to the Weyr Representative if interested. So, Janet, if the brownrider is jumping up and down to be read, write him or her! Passion sparks the best writing, and we want to encourage it!

So is this still available? I'd kinda like a goldrider. But if I need to be around longer I'm totally cool with that.

Nope, it's still available. Plenty of of the NPC Weyrs still need ranking (and non-ranking!) folks. While it's not required that the ranking folk be actively supported (although that can vary between Weyrs - each has a Weyr Rep and they may have slightly different requirements) we do encourage it. So, pick a Weyr you want the goldrider in, post in that forum and see what the Weyr Rep may require (if anything) and have fun!

Yay! She hasn't quite told me where she wants to be yet. Someplace warm I think though. But in between working on Aerden and plotting another Lyridi and Tish story I finished the pencil line of her portrait tonight and started forming her personality in my head. Time for a sheepish admission: All the years I was in fandom I always wanted a goldrider. /sheepish fangirl.

Kitty, which of us hasn't wanted a goldrider? Hell, even the guys want to write goldriders. Isn't that right, Greg? Charles? Haven could use a WW 2nd. I'm just sayin'....

Thom, even though she is blind don't discount Celina. She had been the Weyrwoman for five -six years so she still has a lot of knowledge and experience to give. She might not be able to fly Thread but she does know how to keep a Weyr in order.
