Anyone with a Weyrling who Impressed 34.09.11 or in a clutch soon before or after (or who plans to have such!) have any ideas for group stories? I love stories that involve lots of people, and there's so many good ways for weyrlings to get into trouble! I'm thinking a Turn's End story, when the hatchlings would be 4 1/2 months, has potential. No one would be flying yet, but I doubt that will stop the chaos. Any other ideas? Anna, you have the Weyrlingmaster...how many clutches train simultaneously?

Bwahaha, I glady toss my Weyrling in for mischevious fun and such.
I also throw my grumpy DragonHeaker in to due a check-up type deal with the Weyrling and perhaps show a softer side.

Well, if we're tossing in dragonhealers - the weyrlings are always welcome to go see the 'nice' one of the team, Chyler, too!

Hmm...with two clutches per queen per turn, even with only 3 queens, that's 6 batches a turn to train. Do they divide them in 6, one group per clutch, into 3, or split the turn in half and have two groups per year? Or some other way?
With that many weyrlings, the weyrlingmaster must be overwhelmed. How many assistants does she have? Has anyone ever considered splitting the training into pre-flying and post-flying, just to keep the numbers more manageable?

I'd think they would have to. And yes, I think you'd perhaps have different assistants working with the different classes, maybe Assistant A for pre-flight and then Assistant B for post-flight, and each weyrling group would work with both assistants at those points in their training. The workload would still be large but much more manageable.

She may very well be...um...eligible by then...it's quite a bit after your last story....
But of course you're welcome to plot with us, regardless!

Is it possible that they might use "substitutes" for occasional pre-flight classes? By that I mean full-fledged wingriders who may be grounded due to dragon (or personal) injuries... they can't fly Thread but could still contribute. "Those who can't do, teach."

Thom--I think that's a worthwhile idea. If you have riders who you know will be on the sick list for a while, there's certainly something to be said for asking them to help teach the weyrlings. That way, the weyrlings get to see up close and personal what the life of a rider is like. I'd recommend this for candidates, too, so that they can think long and hard about whether they truly want to be dragonriders.

Ok, thoughts from Geo: K'tern will most definately be doing a 1st month check-up for this next 'zine. Takers?
Soon as I find a spare moment to actually create my Weyrling in full, she'll be up for a story, (lots of ideas, poke me if interested)
And K'tern is more than willing to handle all your gruesome draconic needs, and manage a story to himself for a bit more reflection.
And I'm going to fit this in amongst AP Essays, Theater, Cappies, AND Philmont Prep. God help me.

Say, Hope--Will you need to collab with me as Aerden for Garafille in issue #28? If so, please let me know.
And, re dragonhealers--I thought Rillyn was the nice one of the team! (g)

Yes, Chantal, but that's a later story! Takes place early 3rd month of 35, so I'm planning it for #28.

I've already begun the sequel to my issue #27 story, so I'm looking forward to writing with you--and others.
I'm all for a Turn's End story featuring the weyrlings. Oh-and Invirith informs me that she will be checking up on the hatchlings daily while she's at Theran. That's a scary thought.
